Web Site Editing Suggestions for Beginners
Uploading Images
  • Click the "Sign In" link at the bottom right-hand corner of your Home page.
  • Select "eSite Manager" from the list of option at the top of your editor.
  • In the eSite Manager, click "Pictures" from the list of items under the Company heading.
  • Click the "Add Picture" button, which appears to the right.
  • Click the "Browse" button.
  • You may have to change the "Files of type" extension to All Files (*.*) in order for your image to appear in the list of available files. Select the picture you'd like to add to your eSite from the area where it is stored on your computer (e.g., Desktop, C drive).
  • The image path will appear in the window. Verify that it is the picture you want, and then click "Upload."
  • Remember to save your changes by clicking the "Save" button. You can then view your new picture in your eSite.

Here are a few tips to remember about uploading pictures:

  • Your image must be in a .gif, .jpg, or .jpeg format. If it isn't in one of these formats it will show up as a broken icon.
  • Be sure that you don't have any spaces in the title of your image. For example if your image was titled: net Jane.gif, you need to change it to netJane.gif or it will show up as a broken icon as well.
Editing Tag Line or Slogan
  • Click the "Sign In" link at the bottom right-hand corner of your Home page.
  • Click the "Settings" button at the top of your editor.
  • Select the "Footer" from the image map; it should be option #9.
  • Type your company's slogan or tag line into the text box.
  • Remember to save your changes by clicking the "Save" button.
Adding a New Page
  • Click the "Sign In" link at the bottom-right of your Home page.
  • Click the "eSite Manager" button at the top of your editor.
  • Click the "Add Page" button, which is on the right side of the editor.
  • Select "Page Type" (i.e., Scrapbook) you would like to add by clicking on the image.
  • Give this new page a title in both the navigation bar and the browser.
  • Select where you would like this page to appear in your site. Use the arrows to select the position to move this page around. The up and down arrows will move the positioning of the page in the navigation bar. If you'd rather have this page be a link off of another, and you don't wish to have it displayed in the navigation bar, you can use the right arrow to indent the page.
  • Click the "Create Page" button.
  • You can view, edit, goto eSite Manager or add more pages.
Editing Links in the Navigation Bar
  • Click the "Sign In" link at the bottom right-hand corner of your Home page.
  • Click the "eSite Manager" button at the top of your editor.
  • Find the page in the navigation bar that you wish to change, and click the page name.
  • Scroll down to "Page Information."
  • Type in what you would like the link to read in the text box under "Page Name."
  • Remember to save your changes by clicking the "Save" button.
Hiding a Page from Your Visitors
  • Click the "Sign In" link at the bottom right-hand corner of your Home page.
  • Click the "eSite Manager" button at the top of your editor.
  • Select a page you wish to hide from your visitors.
  • Scroll down to the bottom of the edit page and check the box that says, "Hide this Page from Visitors."
  • Click "Save Changes."
Adding a Link in the Navigation Bar
  • Click the "Sign In" link at the bottom right-hand corner of your Home page.
  • Click the "eSite Manager" button at the top of your editor.
  • Click the "Add Page" button, which is on the right side of the editor.
  • Select the "Link" page. Note that the link page is different from the Page of Links.
  • Give this new page a title in both the navigation bar and the browser.
  • Select where you would like this page to appear in your site. Use the arrows to select the position to move this page around. The up and down arrows will move the positioning of the page in the navigation bar. If you'd rather have this page be a link off of another, and you don't wish to have it displayed in the navigation bar, you can use the right arrow to indent the page.
  • Click the "Create Page" button.
  • Edit this page and add the URL of the page you wish to make a link to in the URL field.
Moving a Page
  • Click the "Sign In" link at the bottom right-hand corner of your Home page.
  • Click the "eSite Manager" button at the top of your editor.
  • Check which page you would like to move.
  • Click the "Move" button at the top of the editor.
  • Use the arrows to select the position you wish to move your page to. The up and down arrows will move the page up or down in the navigation bar. If you'd rather have this page be a link off of another, and you don't wish to have it displayed in the navigation bar, you can use the right arrow to indent the page. If it is already a link off of another page and you wish to make it appear in the navigation bar use the left arrow.
Changing Font and Background Colors
  • Click the "Sign In" link at the bottom right-hand corner of your Home page.
  • Click the "Styles & Colors" button at the top of your editor.
  • Select the layout of your choice by clicking the corresponding icon.
  • To create your own look, click the "Customize" button at the bottom of the page.
  • You'll be prompted to give this custom selection a name.
  • Proceed to create your own color scheme.
  • Remember to save your changes.
Hiding an Existing Banner
  • Sign into your editor by clicking the "Sign In" button at the bottom right-hand side of your Home page.
  • Click the "Settings" button at the top of your editor.
  • Select the "Place Ad Banners Here" from the image map. It should be Option #4.
  • If there's a check mark in that check box the banner will be displayed.
